A Winter Blessing for You

This winter season, whatever you practice, celebrate, and enjoy this season, may you practice, celebrate, and enjoy it fully.

If you celebrate the birth of a child born centuries ago, light candles for nine days, honor ancient festivals, or celebrate one’s enlightenment and awakening, may you honor your tradition and celebrate with those of other traditions.

If you light a real yule log or simply play a recording of one on Netflix (like I do), light purple and pink candles, or plug in holiday lights each evening, may you be a bearer of light in this world.

If you snuggle up under a blanket and drink warm tea or spiked eggnog, if you open presents early, sleep in late, nap all afternoon, go for a long run, and finally succeed at your New Year resolution, may you find the deep rest that your body and soul needs.

If you spend hours watching It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, Home Alone, Jingle Jangle, Muppet Christmas Carol, The Holiday, or Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas, and debate with family which one is the best (or argue whether Die Hard is actually a Christmas movie), may you discover solace and laughter in the stories and lives of others.

If you actually roast chestnuts on an open fire or simply sing about it, walk in a winter wonderland or only dream about it, may your days truly be merry and bright, your nights be silent and holy, and may your heart grow three sizes today.

From all of us in the Spiritual Life Center, blessings of peace, light, and love upon you and yours this winter season.
