All Shall Be Well

Julian of Norwich, an English medieval mystic, authored a short prayer:

All shall be well,

And all shall be well,

And all manner of thing shall be well.

Even though the semester has just started, I feel like the stress level on campus is a bit high. There is of course some change for all of us. Some folks on campus have literally been here for decades and watched buildings and friends come and go. Others have only been here a week and are still trying to figure out the floors in Hall Campus Center. Construction on campus increases stress levels as you try to figure out new traffic patterns, which doors are open, how to get from one place to another and find a parking spot. Finances seem to be tighter with book-buying and payments due.

The pace accelerates so quickly in late August that it is just hard to think clearly. My time is tight too, but I wanted to remind you (and myself) to take time to center. You might say a short meditative prayer like the one here or jump in a rain puddle, but please start the semester off with some balance. Breathe in and out, relax your shoulders and repeat:

All shall be well,

And all shall be well,

And all manner of thing shall be well.

Blessings,

Stephanie
