{"id":717,"date":"2014-10-15T15:49:32","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T19:49:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/redchairblogs.wpengine.com\/holymoly\/?p=717"},"modified":"2014-10-15T15:49:32","modified_gmt":"2014-10-15T19:49:32","slug":"prayer-for-a-rainy-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lynchburg.edu\/holymoly\/2014\/10\/15\/prayer-for-a-rainy-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer for a Rainy Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holy One,<br \/>\nOn this grey day I celebrate the nurture of the rain.<br \/>\nI grow tired of dampness and mud puddles.<br \/>\nI am chilled to the bone.<br \/>\nI am weary of wet shoes.<br \/>\nI am tired of plastic slickers.<br \/>\nMy umbrella is almost too soaked to protect me.<\/p>\n<p>I celebrate that the earth and your people need water.<br \/>\nI need to drink and wash.<br \/>\nThe food I eat depends on the rain.<br \/>\nI confess that I would change my environment today.<br \/>\nI am so tired of wet that I doubt the holiness of nature and balance.<br \/>\nI confess that grey weather greys my spirit.<br \/>\nI crave the joy of never-ending sunshine even though I know it is not sustainable.<br \/>\nI confess that I want the rain to stop even though there are those who know drought.<\/p>\n<p>Help me to remember today, right now, that rain is a blessing.<br \/>\nWarm my heart.<br \/>\nCheer my soul.<br \/>\nThere are so many blessings that come in disguise,<br \/>\nso many blessings that I fail to recognize,<br \/>\nso many blessings in my life that others with less yearn for.<\/p>\n<p>Holy God of rain and sun, of cold and warmth, of grey days and brightness,<br \/>\nI am here amidst the puddles waiting to understand, open to looking beyond my own immediate needs, willing to serve.
