{"id":488,"date":"2013-09-26T14:27:44","date_gmt":"2013-09-26T18:27:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/redchairblogs.wpengine.com\/holymoly\/?p=488"},"modified":"2013-09-26T14:27:44","modified_gmt":"2013-09-26T18:27:44","slug":"the-adventure-of-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lynchburg.edu\/holymoly\/2013\/09\/26\/the-adventure-of-life\/","title":{"rendered":"The Adventure of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--[if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p><!--[if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"center\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.<br \/>\nMy mom says some days are like that\u2026even in Australia.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">These are some of my favorite words, found in the Judith Viorst classic <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day<\/span>. Maybe it\u2019s the rhythm, maybe it\u2019s the cadence as one reads the words aloud, but there is something about the simplicity of the words that makes readers relate to Alexander.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">Some of my other favorite words are found in the book of Ecclesiastes: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">A time to weep, and a time to laugh;<br \/>\na time to mourn and a time to dance <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: right\" align=\"center\"><i><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">\u2013Ecclesiastes 3:4<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">Truth is, some days are beyond fabulous. Other days are not. Some days are terrible. Other days we dance. Some days are horrible. Other days we laugh. On some days weeping is all we can muster. Yet on other days the thrill of being alive makes every day feel like a gift.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">We call this life, and for a reason known only to the Sacred Divine, life was designed to be an adventure. While our choices factor into the interestingness of the adventure, we are not alone. The Sacred One goes with us in the adventure and remains faithful even in the crazy.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">Maybe the brilliance in Alexander\u2019s words and the ones found in Ecclesiastes is that they speak to humanity\u2019s need to understand that life is not always easy. The Judeo-Christian sacred text never speaks of being exempt from life\u2019s hardness, but it does boldly proclaim God\u2019s presence even in the hardness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">As our fall days become cooler and the academic calendar becomes more of a challenge, we need to remember God\u2019s presence with us. On terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days God is with us. When we weep, when we laugh, when we mourn and when we dance, God is with us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">May we never forget.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'\">Katrina<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
