I am quite excited about my move to Denison University next week and broken-hearted to leave the community here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Both the University of Lynchburg and Denison are in the book <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Colleges that Change Lives<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014and Lynchburg has certainly changed my life for the better.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The community around the Dell has helped me raise my daughters and supported me when I have struggled. There is something truly special about being a Hornet. (The Denison mascot is The Big Red Buzzard, so I\u2019ll leave that here.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I leave you with the Blessing I wrote for Baccalaureate last spring:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May God who began this good work in you<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">carry it through to completion.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you continue to hunger for knowledge,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To know that one\u2019s mind must always grow.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you always be at home in the library,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And have the time to participate in culture.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you spend time in conversation.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And may tomorrow dawn with things yet unknown.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you stretch far enough to see life from another\u2019s point of view.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you be open to a perspective that questions your certainty.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you understand an uncomfortable feeling as an opportunity for growth.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you never fear offering an apology.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you be of strong enough character to ask the hard questions.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you care enough to want equity and justice for all souls.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you know a life of balance, taking time to enjoy life and be a person of gratitude.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you take time to love and extend a hand in service to others.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you find discipline and accountability.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you always be true to your authentic self.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you find the simple path.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And whatever challenge you encounter, may it deepen your spirit.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your life know wholeness, and may you be well.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your body endure,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your mind be clear,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your spirit know joy.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you have the support you need for your emotional life,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And when you feel broken or fragmented,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you return to wholeness again.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you continue to discover the gifts and talents bestowed upon you;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you have the time to listen carefully to the divine call upon your life.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you continue to discover and live your vocation,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even as it changes and reshapes across the decades.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you have a future full of Hope.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you know the lifelong gift of being a hornet.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You will never be without community, never without support.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you use your knowledge wisely,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Both the knowledge and critical thinking you learned in the classroom,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And the values and virtues you learned across the campus.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your memories be strong and true,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May your friendships be lifelong.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you always be a Hornet-Human,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open to new ways of thinking<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open to new ideas.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you use your knowledge carefully,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And pursue Wisdom always.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you listen fully, without judgment<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you speak with compassion,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you talk with respect.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you value Diversity.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you strive to Include everyone around your table<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you work for Justice, for everyone, and in every system.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you be a Leader, a true servant-leader, who always builds others up.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May you change your part of the World for the better,<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Encouraging others to be Hornet-Humans too.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amen.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:
